Who Is PLANITROI?
How the Public manages its "retired" IT assets will have a significant impact on End-Of-Life disposal liabilities. Handled casually, those old computers represent significant expense, data risk and potential civil and criminal liabilities. Handled properly, retired assets represent opportunities to recover bottom line ROI while reducing your liabilities.
PLANITROI specializes in the planning, managing and executing financial recovery programs for information technology assets worldwide As an industry leader since 1991, PLANITROI has planned, managed, and executed the returns of 5,000,000 IT assets and has remarketed and sold over $500 million dollars worth of IT assets to our 20,000+ customers worldwide. No one else can match the value PLANITROI delivers to its clients every step of the way.
The Gartner Group recommends asset management service partners like PLANITROI:
"… these service providers will take equipment on consignment and split the gross proceeds based on a predetermined sharing formula. This model of sharing simplifies record keeping, and motivates the services company to manage expenses and maximize revenue."
Who are the owners?
Paul Baum, founder and CEO of PLANITROI, pioneered what we now call end-of-life (EOL) asset management with his first company, RTI, Inc. Starting in 1991, PLANITROI served OEMs such as IBM, Lexmark, Compaq, Texas Instruments, Acer and others in the ground-breaking programs called "cash-in and trade-up." These programs allowed individuals and corporations to take advantage of trading in their old computers and applying the value toward new equipment or services. Most of the programs Paul started for these OEMs still exist and compete with PLANITROI's new model of compliance plus guaranteed ROI. Baum sold his company, RTI, Inc., to pursue a much ignored part of the EOL cycle, return on investment with compliance; hence the name PLANITROI.
During Paul's career, he has remarketed a high percentage of the 5 million retired IT assets he has helped corporations dispose of in an environmentally positive manner. Paul's mantra, "If we can find another user for your computer, it stays out of a landfill."
He first recognized this need when AT&T downsized and spun off divisions in the mid '90s. Its managers called on PLANITROI to arrange the sale of $500 million worth of excess IT and plant equipment. In the beginning, AT&T wanted to develop a program for 40,000 employees and used surplus IT assets in a disposition program for unused equipment.
AT&T did not at first recognize the sensitive nature of the information stored on the employees' computers. Paul explained the consequences of not complying with Microsoft regulations as well as the sensitivity of the potential release of company and client information stored on every unit. AT&T hired PLANITROI to erase sensitive information on all computers, remove company asset tags and remarket equipment with value and properly recycle equipment without value. PLANITROI returned over $100 million and ensured compliance.
Ernst & Young bestowed its "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" to Paul. While earning his bachelor of science degree in business management from Ithaca College,
he was named "Entrepreneur of the Class."
